Ok Moms, I know this isn’t the sexiest or most interesting topic but it is worth it. We have all seen how to wash Lego in the dishwasher, stuffies in the washing machine and outdoor toys with a pressure washer but Playmobil is an entirely different beast. They have the tiniest parts known to man and are easily lost if you are not super careful. Of course, they also cost a small fortune so it might be the only toy we have that I am not willing to vacuum up in secret. I came across a giant tub of Playmobil in the storage room today without a lid on it. It was absolutely filthy and here is how I dealt with it.
What you will need:
- Stick or spoon
- Dish soap
- White vinegar
- Lemon essential oil (optional)
Fill your bucket with warm or hot water about three quarters full. Add a squirt of dish soap, half a cup of vinegar and a few drops of lemon essential oil then stir it a bit. The lemon essential oil is optional but it adds to the degreasing and sanitizing power.
Dump in all of your Playmobil. Take note if there are any pieces with stickers on. You can let this soak a bit but it you have a lot of stickers don’t let it soak too long. Then using your stick or spoon, stir everything around really well. I stirred quite a bit because mine was super dirty.
Slowly dump the contents of the bucket through the colander to catch all the little pieces. You can either rinse them off under the sink or put them back in the bucket with clean water and dump again.
Lay flat to dry or if you are feeling particularly overzealous dry by hand with a kitchen towel.
Taadaa!!! Clean, sanitized and dust free Playmobil!! This method even cleaned dust in the tiny cracks and holes that I could never get by hand.
